Tom Cruise is considering hopping aboard the 3:10 To Yuma remake directed by Walk The Line’s James Mangold.

Based on a short story by Elmore Leonard, the 1957 original starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin, telling the tale of a sheriff’s struggle to bring an outlaw to justice. Mangold will produce alongside his wife Cathy Konrad for Columbia. Cruise is apparently interest in taking the role of the villainous desperado being targeted by the lawman.

Also possibly on the cards for the actor is Adrian Lyne’s suspense drama Two Minutes to Midnight, in which the protagonist must find his wife by 23:58 or kill himself, reports Empire.

A third project that Cruise is said to be musing over is Fool’s Gold, which is about a divorced couple who find their sparks rekindled during a treasure hunt. (DigitalSpy)

MoviesOnline:
Jerry “Golden Boy” Trimble, a real world champion fighter and actor, speaks very highly of the fighting techniques displayed by Tom Cruise during their fight sequence filmed for the upcoming release of Mission Impossible III. J.J. Abrams, the director of “Mission Impossible III”, chose champion Jerry Trimble, Jr. to do the dramatic fight scene with Tom Cruise. (…) Jerry has been in over twenty feature films, half of which he played lead. The list includes “Heat”, (playing alongside Al Pacino) and “Charlie’s Angels” (nominated for the Taurus Award in the category of best fight). His more recent roles include the yet to be released “M:i:lll”, where Jerry participates in a one on one fight scene with Tom Cruise, of which, Jerry stated that Tom Cruise “exhibits incredible fighting skills for a non-professional fighter”. Additional recent roles include “War of the Worlds” “The Last Sentinel”, and voice-over narration for “Fortitude and Glory, Angelo Dundee and his fighters.”

And… Top Gun’s Tomcat is retired, reports Australian TheCourierMail.

Tom & Katie were in Sydney to attend a memorial service for Kerry Packer, a late friend of Tom’s. Hello! Magazine reports:

All smiles and tender caresses, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes seemed determined to scotch recent rumours that their relationship was in trouble during a recent trip Down Under.
The Tinseltown twosome, who were in Sydney to attend a memorial service for late Australian businessman Kerry Packer, were snapped hugging warmly aboard a yacht owned by the media tycoon’s son Jamie Packer, who’s a friend of the Mission Impossible star.
And Tom clearly remains caught up in the excitement of impending fatherhood, repeatedly patting his fiancée’s bump and grinning broadly as she wrapped her arms around him.
The 27-year-old mum-to-be, who is expecting her first child in April, was dressed for the Australian summer heat in a stylish chemise worn over a simple vest. And while her burgeoning bump meant the patterned top had ridden up, the former Dawson’s Creek actress was making sure no-one got a sneak peek at her tummy by keeping the undergarment well pulled down.
According to reports, Katie had not initially intended to make the trip, but the publication stateside of articles speculating on the couple’s living arrangements – claiming they slept in separate rooms – persuaded her to change her mind. [You go, girl! Kick some gossip-reporters-butt!! Good for you! ;-) I'd do the same.]
Describing the rumours as “100 per cent false”, a spokesperson for the pair stated: “Mr Cruise and Ms Holmes are still engaged and are moving forward with their wedding plans, as well as planning for the arrival of their child. Despite malicious fallacies put forth, the couple is looking forward to a long and happy life together as a family.”
