    News

All the news from these past days includes of course Tom and Katie’s LA premiere. Celebspin:

Pulling up to Grauman’s Chinese Theater behind the wheel of a black sports car with Holmes in the passenger seat, Cruise said: “We are looking forward to seeing this. This is Katie’s first night out since we had Suri.”

A voluptuous-looking Holmes, already slimmed down since the last stages of her pregnancy, was wearing a loose-fitting black cocktail dress with white pumps as she clung to Cruise while he signed autographs and posed for photos.
Referring to her weight, Holmes told one fan, “I haven’t lost that much yet.” Still, insisted the admirer, Holmes looks amazing. “Thank you,” she said. “I try to eat healthy.”
Asked how it felt to be making her first public appearance since giving birth, Holmes smiled and said: “Wonderful.” And baby Suri? “Gorgeous!” she gushed. Holmes also said that “some very good friends” were taking care of the infant – while Cruise (wearing a black suit and sunglasses) took care of Holmes, making sure she was as much a part of his night as the fans.

As the festivities continued, someone in the crowd handed Cruise a homemade gift for Suri: four, three-inch pink knitted toy blocks, each with the letters “S,” “U,” “R,” “I” knitted in white on the blocks. Clearly touched by the gesture, Cruise handed the blocks to Holmes and then tightly hugged the fan. “Thank you so much,” he said. “This is really appreciated. I love homemade gifts. Have a wonderful summer.” Added Holmes: “Thank you. They’re beautiful. … That’s so sweet. I know just where to put them.”

They also surprised Wal-Mart employee Kevin McCoy, 27, who won an online trivia contest with the prize of attending a private screening of Cruise’s newly released film.
Cruise and Holmes strolled the town’s borrowed red carpet, and signed autographs for many of the nearly 2,000 fans at a local mall set up to welcome the couple to the blue collar town of Aberdeen.

Cruise was his usual magnanimous self, saying, “I am amazed at how beautiful it is here, and you’re really warm and wonderful people,” as he and Holmes accepted honorary Aberdeen citizenships.

As for the Cruise ship making port there, one of the gushing teens told Aberdeen Daily World, “It’s surreal. It’s the coolest thing to ever happen to this town.” (PostChronicle)

Digital Spy reports that Tom is interested in starring in the latest Hollywood comic book adaptation, Iron Man, something we reported here months ago!

Some small news items: The Sun shows a picture of Tom at the Ellen DeGeneres Show, in which Ellen presented him a present for Suri – a pram in the style of a pink plane. The £200 Fantasy Flyer model has Suri’s name stencilled on the side. Tom was also given a black satin flight suit and sunglasses for the three-week-old.

Celebrity-babies.com adds: When Ellen asked what his plans for Kate/Katie was, he said, “I got a whole plan,” but gave a mother’s day gift to Ellen’s mother who was on the show- a shiny red bicycle. Then he gave bouquets of roses to the studio audience. Watch that here.
This website also has a little excerpt of the interview Tom gave to the magazine Good Housekeeping. It contains some of Tom’s quotes about Katie, marriage and Suri and the fact that his adopted daughter Isabella said to Tom not to let Katie go. The same is reported by People.

British BBC is back to business with the story “Cruise keeps grip on film chart”: M:I-III is at the top of the British and Irish box office chart for a second week.

Sorry for mixing up the “private” and “business” news… it’s so much these days and also both things are often in the same interview or story. But I trust you don’t mind! ;-)

    New layout!

Okay! Site clean up always must start with a new layout. I know, I know, it’s horrible, but after so much time with the latest one, I came with the conclusion I really hate green!

Anyway, still lots to do, but I had to start with a new layout. The forum will be news later this week ;)

As for the pictures used on the layout, they’re from Parade Magazine, originals can be found in the gallery. Thanks TopCruiser17 for the pictures.

And also (added this on this post)
Guys guys guys! I need your help! Tom has been appearing in several magazines from all over the world. I’m complete not updated on magazines. I can’t find any here where I live. I can’t find them anywhere. So, I need YOUR help. If you have those magazines, please scan them for us! All credit will be given, just tell me how you want the credit.

Hey guys, I got this e-mail from Claudio Meli from Italy.

The issue is that the actor who does the voice dubbing in Italy was changed. Italian fans got used to the old voice, and I understand that watching a dubbed movie with a voice that you got used to hear from another actor is really really confusing and annoying.

They’ve made an open letter that should be fowarded to Tom. But, I think I will repeat myself now, this site and myself have no conection with Tom himself or anyone from his team. Chantal and I are your regular fans who love doing the site :) . Anyway, click the link below to read the full letter. Paramount, if you do read this, click the link! The letter is addressed to Tom, but I believe its the studio that does the decisions:

There are reports Tom is considering a western movie:

Australia’s favourite export-of-the-month will meet Australia’s former favourite son-in-law in a new western.

Eric Bana and Tom Cruise will share a saddle – some twelve year old just let out a culpable snigger – for “3:10 to Yuma”, the James Mangold directed remake of a western about about a rancher holding an outlaw captive until a train arrives to deliver him to prison. (Think “Midnight Run” with straw to chew on, and lots of sitting around).

“I’m not about to say that I know what the hell Tom is going to do,” Bana tells MTV, “but I had heard that it was one of the things he’s considering.”

Bana has a real woody for Mangold. “I think everything [Mangold's] done has been great, and ‘Walk the Line’ was one of my favorite films last year, no doubt.” Laughing, he added: “Besides ‘Munich,’ of course.” … (Moviehole)

The new Tom Cruise blockbuster ‘Mission: Impossible III’ has topped the US box office.

The film that also stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Jonathan Rhys Meyer made a massive £26million in ticket sales in its opening weekend.

Worldwide the film made £63million however; it has been considered a disappointment in comparison with the first two Mission Impossible films.

Back in the US new comedy ‘RV’ only needed to make £6million to win second place while ‘American Haunting’ came in third making £3.4million. (EntertainmentWise)

Slashfilm.com adds that the film took in over $70.3 million overseas at 7,390 playdates in 57 markers. Tom Cruise is apparently very popular in Asian markets, with South Korea alone accounting for $10.6 million in only 402 engagements. This makes M:I:III the UIP’s biggest opener ever in the market. To give you perspective, the first two Mission: Impossible films didn’t break $58 million overseas in opening weekend. Last summer’s big blockbuster, Batman Begins opened to $42 million in 73 markers (or $166 million when all was said and done).

    Hi guys! More news!

‘Mission: Impossible III’ Makes $17 million on Opening Day
The grand opening of one of the most talked about movies of this year has come and gone, and those involved are probably looking forward to the estimates for the first weekend earnings.
Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible III” made $17 million on its first day, after a release in 4,054 theatres, the fourth-widest release for a movie ever. The current estimates say it will gross around $50 million or a bit higher on its opening weekend. The previous “M: I” movies opened with $63.5 million and $78.8 million, respectively, in May 1996 and 2000. (Playfuls.com)

According to ETonline Tom Cruise is more powerful than ever: Premiere magazine has unveiled the annual “2006 Power List” in its June issue (on stands May 16) in which Tom is listed as the highest ranking actor at #13, while Reese Witherspoon takes the top actress ranking at #29. The annual list is a declaration of today’s 50 most influential Hollywood players.
    ET's premiere mag.
ET also makes us happy with a story ánd video of Tom & Katie at the premiere of M:I-III at the world famous Chinese Theatre in LA. Click here to read their story ‘The sexy side of M:I-III’ which contains two video links.

qctimes.net says Tom’s terrific in Mission: Impossible III:

The very definition of a popcorn movie, “M:I: III” will have your heart pounding within 20 minutes of the first scene, which in itself is full of suspense. Tom Cruise, regardless of what you think of his personal life, is a talented actor. And that’s evident throughout.
Cruise once again stars as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, who has fallen in love and plans to marry his girlfriend Julia (Michelle Monaghan, “North Country”), a nurse who has no idea of what her boyfriend really does for a living.

During their engagement party, Ethan receives a phone call. Seems that his colleague (Keri Russell) is being held hostage by Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman, “Capote”), a sinister dealer of heaven-only-knows-what. She’s in Berlin, and Ethan’s friend and coworker John Musgrave (Billy Crudup, “Almost Famous”) wants Ethan to go save her.

Ethan and his team, which inclues Luther (Ving Rhames, “Pulp Fiction”), Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers, “Match Point”) and Zhen (Maggie Q, “Around the World in 80 Days”) head to Berlin for the mission, which doesn’t go as planned. During their adventure, bad guy Owen has words with Ethan. He promises to find out whether Ethan has a girlfriend or a wife. “Whoever she is, I’m gonna find her. I’m gonna hurt her. And then I’m going to kill you right in front of her,” he declares.

Owen escapes. And then the troupe heads off to the Vatican, where they must capture Owen, who is picking up a mysterious briefcase. And that’s when things become really interesting, with fake identities and heart-stopping action.

Hoffman is terrific as the villain we all love to hate. He’s serious, mean and no-nonsense. Cruise, as Ethan, is emotional, quick-thinking and loyal. It’s great to see these two go up against each other.

J.J. Abrams, who created television’s hit “Lost” and wrote “Joy Ride,” has a hit on his hands. He knows how to show us exotic scenes, from busy streets in Shanghai and the Vatican to wind farms, and he keeps the pyrotechnics and stunts at a maximum level. He tells the story in a flashback, which includes flashbacks within the main flashback, and never confuses the audience along the way.

Prepare yourself. The first of the summer blockbusters has arrived in full force.

Click here to view some pics of the LA premiere (but ignore the comments!) and People and Hollywood.com. Hello! Magazine also has a story about the premiere and Hollywood.com comes with a review.
