Suri Cruise pictures bring in millions of viewers
Glossy magazine VANITY FAIR is already benefitting from publishing the first photos of TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES new baby SURI by hitting a record 4.3 million page views on their website in just one day. The October (06) issue features a 22-page photo spread of the Cruise family shot by celebrity photographer ANNIE LEIBOVITZ. The issue hit newsstands in New York City and Los Angeles on 6 September (06), but the world could view the photos online at vanityfair.com late Tuesday (05SEP06) night - and hits on the site rocketed to nearly three times the previous record for page views when the magazine posted a picture of KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and SCARLETT JOHANSSON appearing nude for TOM FORD’s Hollywood issue in February (06). Meanwhile, new details have emerged about exactly how the magazine managed to keep its exclusive pictures a secret. Comag Market Group Vice President JOE BERTOLINO, who distributes the magazine, said the operation was three weeks in the making and credits Vanity Fair editor in chief GRAYDON CARTER with masterminding the exclusive deal. Neither Carter’s staff or members of Bertolino’s marketing group were allowed to see the images ahead of time. A private security firm was hired to guard the magazine as it was being printed and it shipped one day late, with the front of the issue covered by a protective piece of paper to prevent leaks. Bertolino says security did catch an infiltrator at one distribution point from a competing weekly magazine. He declined to name the publication, saying only that it was not owned by a “reputable” magazine company.

Michael Moore: stop picking on Tom Cruise
Michael Moore has said he thinks people should lay off Tom Cruise - because at the end of the day he’s just an actor.
Speaking at the Toronto launch of his new documentary, Sicko, about the US health insurance business, Moore said: “It’s time to stop picking on Tom Cruise.”
“What is his crime? Jumping on a couch? Actors are supposed to different. They’re not accountants.”
“His religion is own damn business, no matter what planet it’s from. He’s not firing rockets into Iraq.”

Other news is about Tom & Katie-spottings:

LifeStyleExtra:
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were “rescued” from the paparazzi by considerate restaurant staff.
The couple - who recently unveiled the first pictures of their baby daughter Suri in Vanity Fair magazine - were enjoying an intimate dinner at plush eatery Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi, in Santa Monica, California, on Saturday night (09.09.06) when they were spotted by photographers.
Almost immediately the snappers had set up camp outside the restaurant, waiting for Tom and Katie to emerge so they could photograph them.
However, considerate restaurant employees came to the pair’s rescue by holding up their aprons and obstructing the view of Tom and Katie as they left.
To further distract the flashing bulbs, the owner of the restaurant Giorgio Baldi even jumped in front of the paparazzi to obscure their view.

SeattlePI:
Tom & Katie
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes threatened to upstage the action on the field on Monday when they watched the Washington Redskins season opener as VIP guests of Cruise’s new business partner, Redskins owner Dan Snyder.
On the ESPN premiere of Monday Night Football, the couple were seen sitting in the owner’s box, both decked out in shades. They watched the Redskins lose to the Minnesota Vikings 19-16.
The couple were joined by Cruise’s daughter Isabella, 13, and son Connor, 11. The family - yes, even Vanity Fair cover-baby Suri - is staying at the Potomac, Md., home of Snyder, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.
Days after Cruise was publicly dumped by Paramount Pictures last month, the actor’s production company signed a deal to finance movies through Snyder and others in the investment firm First and Goal LLC.
On Sunday, Cruise and Snyder went to the Snyder-owned Six Flags amusement park in Washington, the Post reported.

  3. Kiyo Says:

This is wonderful to hear. Tom and Katie need to be understood rightly. To see the pictures and to read the story helps people catch the reality of their life. I hope Vanity Fair will hand the article and story to one of Japanese magazines because general Japanese people often misunderstand him nowadays.
And this is another matter. For several days I couldn’t get into Fan Forum. Is this my own problem or does that forum have a problem? I’m crying.

    Japan Declares ‘Tom Cruise Day’

According to the Japan Memorial Day Association, he was awarded with his own day because of his love for and close association with Japan.

Cruise’s film, The Last Samurai, grossed $117 million more in Japan than it did in the US.

The actor has paid more visits to the country than any other major Hollywood star and spends hours on end with fans in the country.

His public relations tour of Japan last spring to promote Mission: Impossible III included a trip on the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo, during which he had his photo taken with more than 100 fans.

During that trip, Cruise told the press he wanted to shoot the next installment in the action series in Japan. The Association noted that Cruise is the first Hollywood star to receive this honor.

October 06 is Tom Cruise’s day in Japan
