Oscar poster lines ‘em up
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ poster for the 79th Oscars features 75 of the most memorable and quotable lines from movie history.
Poster, conceived and designed for the Academy by TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles, features a photograph of the statuette by Albert Watson.
“If a picture is worth a thousand words, then each quote is worth at least 500,” said Academy prexy Sid Ganis. The quotes were chosen by members of the Acad’s board of governors and other Academy staff members.
All the lines showcased in the poster — except one — are from films that received an Oscar nomination for picture, screenplay or both between 1936 and 2005. The only film with two quotes is 1996′s “Jerry Maguire.”
Acad reps said the lone exception among the 75 would provide a guessing game for film fans.
The 27×40 poster, printed on premium recycled paper, uses a black canvas and highlights the quotes in gold metallic ink.
More than 65,000 posters have been distributed worldwide, and the poster is available for purchase through March 12 via the Academy’s Web site or by calling 800-554-1814.
The four quotes from Tom’s movies are:
“Ten minutes to Wapner” from “Rain Man,” 1988
“You can’t handle the truth!” from “A Few Good Men,” 1992
“Show me the money!” from “Jerry Maguire,” 1996
“You had me at hello” from “Jerry Maguire,” 1996

Happy Holidays!!
Hey Everyone!!! I come to wish everyone a very happy holiday season!
I will be out of town for the next two weeks, will be having a vacation trip (my first in like forever!). I will try to get on and update if I can, but I might not. Chantal is gonna keep an eye on the site, but there isn’t much to report these days. If you see the site is kinda not updated, don’t be affraid, we will be back soon!
I love you all!

Tom and Katie both were spotted shopping: Tom bought himself a new plane a few days ago … He was seen at Burbank Airport checking it out. I don’t have pics of it yet but as soon as we do, we’ll post them. (Waleg.com)
Katie went shopping for Suri, Tom and herself; Hello! says:
She celebrated her 28th birthday on Sunday so Katie Holmes could be forgiven for treating herself to a special shopping spree. But the newlywed clearly had her baby daughter and husband Tom Cruise on her mind as she hit the Marc Jacobs store in LA.
The Batman Begins actress, who brightened up her top-to-toe black ensemble with a pair of pillar-box red heels, has been settling into married life now all the wedding celebrations are over. She spent time exploring the racks in the New York designer’s boutique before picking out some pretty items for daughter Suri and men’s jumpers – possibly for Tom.
But she didn’t go empty handed herself, choosing a beige poncho to keep her warm and stylish over the winter months. She has marked herself out as something of a fashion leader this year, hitting the runway shows with new best pal Victoria Beckham and earning column inches with her wardrobe choices. (I’ve found some pictures, watch them in the gallery)
AllHeadlineNews.com tells us how she has spent her birthday:
Tis the season of giving, and Katie Holmes wanted to celebrate her birthday by being a holiday helper.
Katie recently spent her 28th birthday playing Santa to an underprivileged family. The former “Dawson’s Creek” actress celebrated her birthday on Sunday by visiting a family in East Los Angeles to deliver gifts and a Christmas tree.
Katie was accompanied by her husband Tom Cruise’s adopted children Connor, 11, and 13-year-old Isabella.
Meanwhile, Katie has laughed off rumors that she is pregnant. It was suggested the “Batman Begins” actress was expecting her second child with Tom – their daughter, Suri, was born in April – after she attended a film premiere sporting what appeared to be a baby bump.
Katie’s alleged bump was also the topic of conversation after the couple’s post-wedding party in California. However, Tom’s representative has denied the rumors, saying, “To our knowledge, Katie is not pregnant.”
More websites quote ‘In Touch’ magazine’s top 10 of most romantic weddings (see earlier post) – moldova.org even says it’s proof “Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are still the best and unbeatable”.
BTW: If you find news or pics that isn’t uploaded here, please let me or Annie know and we’ll add it!
People has a Top 5 of Most romantic moments of 2006 and guess what’s at no. 1?! The wedding of Tom & Katie, of course!!
Their summary:
1. TOM & KATIE
Their wedding ceremony
After famously debuting their romance in Rome in April 2005, it was only fitting that Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 28, would return to Italy to marry, in true fairytale fashion. Their Nov. 18 nuptials, held at a 15th century castle in Bracciano, Italy, lived up to all the hype, with 150 guests (including Will Smith, Brooke Shields and Victoria Beckham), 400 feet of crinoline and tulle (in Holmes’s Armani wedding gown), and a dramatic fireworks display to cap things off.
ET Online also has them on top, at their special ‘The year in review – I do’s & divorces of 2006′ and calls it “the most anticipated wedding of the year”.
I totally agree
:
The grandeur of TomKat’s Italian nuptials not only caught guests by surprise, but it also found its place at the top of the In Touch magazine poll.
The couple’s star-studded wedding that took place on 18 November, 06 topped a new list of the Weddings of The Year, followed by punk-pop couple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley.
Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson’s five-minute St Tropez, France wedding came in third, while Tori Spelling’s second big day with new husband Dean McDermott on a beach in Fiji went on to claim thefourth slot, reports Contactmusic.
And, while Cruise’s Italian wedding crashed in at number one, actress Patricia Arquette’s marriage with Thomas Jane in Venice, Italy made the top 10 at number five.
The top 10 weddings of the year, according to In Touch are:
1. Tom Cruise + Katie Holmes in Italy
2. Deryck Whibley + Avril Lavigne in Montecito, California
3. Kid Rock + Pamela Anderson in St Tropez, France
4. Dean McDermott + Tori Spelling in Fiji
5. Thomas Jane + Patricia Arquette in Venice, Italy
6. Brigitte Nielson + Mattia Dessi in Malta
7. Anna Nicole Smith + Howard K Stern in the Bahamas
8. Pink + Carey Hart in Costa Rica
9. Oliver Hudson + Erinn Bartlett in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
10. Nicole Kidman + Keith Urban in Manly, Australia. (ANI) (Source: sawf news)

Eye Candy
Or… pictures
“Entertainment Tonight” recently revealed their No.1 Hollywood star of 2006. The popular TV show announced on Tuesday that Tom Cruise has been selected as the year’s “Top Star Of The Year.”
For the past two years, Oprah was the winner of the show’s top spot, but that quickly changed this year. However, the queen of talk still made it on the list, coming in at sixth place.
Tom’s wife, Katie Holmes, came in ahead of Oprah at number five and one of Hollywood’s biggest love triangles – Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston -were also included in the top ten.
Three A-list female celebrities that were removed from this year’s list included Britney Spears, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez.(Source: AllHeadlineNews.com)
From ET‘s website the original story:
Who’s the hottest star of 2006? Is it JENNIFER ANISTON? GEORGE CLOONEY? Each year, ET ranks the top 20 stars of the year — based on who received the most mentions on the show over the course of the year — and tonight, we’ve got the “ET Hot List”!
“It has been a huge, fascinating year for celebrity news,” says ET Executive Producer LINDA BELL BLUE. “And now we have ranked those stars and public figures that have been at the forefront of 2006′s news as reported by Entertainment Tonight.”
OPRAH WINFREY slips down to No. 6 this year after spending two years back-to-back at No. 1. Previous title holders include JENNIFER LOPEZ in 2003 and Jennifer Aniston in 2002.
So who made the grade this year? Why, none other than TOM CRUISE! Tom tops the list due to our extensive and exclusive coverage of his fairytale Italian wedding to KATIE HOLMES (who ranked No. 5), the birth of baby SURI and his ‘M:i:III’ mission.
With the birth of SHILOH NOUVEL JOLIE-PITT and the press following their every move around the world from L.A. to Africa and India, BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE moved up to the top five this year at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, sharing the space with ANNA NICOLE SMITH at No. 4, whose joyful birth of baby DANNIELYNN and commitment to HOWARD K. STERN was marred by the tragic death of her 20-year-old son, DANIEL, in September.
Stars making the Top 10 include JESSICA SIMPSON, newly engaged “Desperate Housewives” star EVA LONGORIA and Oscar winner George Clooney. Other honorable mentions on the list include LINDSAY LOHAN, NICK LACHEY, REESE WITHERSPOON, TERI HATCHER, TORI SPELLING, NICOLE KIDMAN and “Dr. McDreamy” himself, PATRICK DEMPSEY.
And who is notably absent from the “Hot List”? You may be surprised to learn that MEL GIBSON, despite his infamous DUI arrest and anti-Semitic rant this year, did not crack the top 20. BRITNEY SPEARS and JULIA ROBERTS also failed to make the list this year.
Here’s the “Hot List”!
1. Tom Cruise
2. Brad Pitt
3. Angelina Jolie
4. Anna Nicole Smith
5. Katie Holmes
6. Oprah Winfrey
7. Jennifer Aniston
8. Jessica Simpson
9. George Clooney
10. Eva Longoria
11. Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman
12. Lindsay Lohan and Reese Witherspoon
13. Tori Spelling
14. Charlize Theron
15. Nick Lachey
16. Katie Couric
17. Marcia Cross
18. Nicole Kidman
19. Heather Locklear
20. Patrick Dempsey
As you all know Tom & Katie threw a post-wedding party this Saturday, for friends and family who didn’t make it to their wedding in Italy. I’ve combined some articles together so you get all the info at once
The day began with both of the in-laws cheering on Tom´s daughter Bella at her local soccer game, where Tom’s sister Cass, mom Mary Lee and Katie’s parents – all in town for the party – laughed and kicked the ball around at half-time (Tom’s mom Mary Lee even showed off some fancy footwork). When the sun began to set, the Holmes´ stopped for appetizers at the Beverly Hills Hotel´s Polo Lounge before making their way over to the home of Tom’s producing partner Paula Wagner and her husband, CAA agent Rick Nicita, where the big fiesta was held.
Police cordoned off the area around the home in the early evening, threatening the dozens of reporters and video and still photographers with citations if they clogged the streets.
The seven-hour affair began at about 6 p.m., with Mr. and Mrs. Cruise, along with daughter Suri, arriving in a three-vehicle armada of tinted-out black SUVs around 6:40 p.m. Connor and Isabella followed in a Bentley.
Light appetizers were passed at the start of the evening, with heavier fare like short ribs, mashed potatoes and couscous served as more of the 300 or so guests filed into the bash, including Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw (arriving in a Bentley), Jerry Bruckheimer, Oliver Stone (silver Porsche), Last Samurai director Ed Zwick and producer Marshall Herskovitz, Morgan Freeman, Kirsten Dunst, James Caan, Adam Sandler, Robert Duvall, Orlando Bloom (yellow VW Bug), Dakota Fanning, Cuba Gooding Jr., James Van Der Beek, Diane Sawyer, Larry King, Derek Luke, Denzel Washington, Christian Bale, Catherine Bell, Ben Stiller and wife Christine Taylor, producer Brian Grazer and former Paramount studio boss Sherry Lansing, Variety’s éminence grise Army Archerd and ex-girlfriend Penélope Cruz.
Brooke Shields and husband Chris Henchy (with their two children), Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, who attended the Bracciano wedding, also came to the bash.
E Online: “Ostensibly, the party was a celebration for those who couldn’t make it to Rome for the couple’s Nov. 18 nuptials and a who’s who of Hollywood royalty descended upon the affair in style”. E Online also has a video of the arrivals, click here.
There was a four-hour caviar bar, complete with pink ice and imported coral. A dessert bar featured strawberry apéritifs and chocolate cigars with a hint of mint. Imported French linen napkins were custom-dyed chocolate brown, and also shipped in from overseas was the crushed cork that covered the party’s two bars.
Sisal rug was laid in the backyard, and three tents were erected to protect well-wishers from the night’s rainfall. Table centerpieces featured cream roses, peonies and amaryllis in smoke-mirrored glass boxes. A chandelier of 50,000 Swarovski crystals decorated the center tent.
A jazz trio performed throughout the night. “It wasn’t the kind of party with dancing,” one partygoer said. “It was more of an elegant cocktail party for socializing.” While the band was only booked until 11 p.m., I’m told they were asked to continue for an additional two hours, when it became clear the party would last longer than expected.
Said one guest, “Tom seemed really proud, parading Katie around his guests.” Any tension with his ex? No way! “There was so much love in the air that it seemed like a family reunion.” Dakota Fanning, Toms co-star in last year’s Spielberg-directed War of the Worlds, told People Sunday at the premiere of her movie Charlotte’s Web, “They were really happy. It was a fun party, it was great.”
An insider said the cost of the evening was estimated to be about $400,000. Event planner Damon Pease and Ikus Productions coordinated on the party, and Salt of the Earth Catering created the menu, according to the partygoer. Katie wore a simple pale pink dress, and Tom was in a dark suit, the partygoer said.
Check out pics of some of the guests arriving, click here.
Once he’s finished celebrating, Tom is set to return to his day job, playing a congressman in Lions for Lambs, the first film from United Artists since Tom and Paula Wagner took over the storied production house. The film, also starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, begins shooting in January.
