We all remember ‘Minority Report’, and Tom interfacing with a computer using gestures only. It was a vertical interface, and it was virtual.

Now Microsoft has revealed a table-top interface, no keyboard, no mouse, dubbed ‘Surface’, and supposedly, opening the doors to ’surface computing.’
Surface is incorporated into a 30″ display mounted into a table. This allows user involvement to expand beyond just one person. Surface is capable of recognizing input from not just one finger, but multiple up to dozens of inputs simultaneously.

I know it’s not Tom-news but it reminded me of this great movie, so I couldn’t resist posting it! If you want to watch a demo, click here. In the beginning the demo is kind of boring, but it quickly gets quite nice to watch. You can just let it load and later skip the first minutes, if you like. After about ten minutes you see the pic stunt which is a bit similair to what Tom did in ‘MR’. Again at 16 and about 17 minutes. It only made me want to watch ‘MR’ again! ;-)

The fabulous Des is so fast – she finds news and uploading so quickly that it’s hard to find anything she hasn’t found already! ;-) Which is great, of course! I hope you all enjoy this hard work!

But I have found a little video of Tom & Katie in New York on April 19th. Go here to watch it.

Cruise buys another £1.8m wartime fighter as he lives out the role that shot him to fame

Tom Cruise is reprising his Top Gun role in real life – and is well on his way to having his own fighter plane squadron.

He was seen inspecting his latest flyer, a Second World War Mustang P-51 which he is believed to be buying for £1.8 million.

Tom, 44, took friends along to Bob Hope airport in Burbank, California, to show off the plane and an onlooker said: “He was like a kid with a new toy.”

He already owns a Mustang P-51, a refurbished 1943 model, which he keeps in a hangar at Bob Hope airport.

He also has a stunt plane called the Pitts Special S-2B and in the late Nineties spent £21million on a Gulfstream IV jet, which he fitted with a cinema and a deep Jacuzzi.

The onlooker said of Tom’s newest addition to his squadron: “He could not wait to check out the plane and was talking about his plans to take it out for a first spin. The other pilots are all very jealous because it’s very impressive.”

Tom has been fascinated by flying since starring in Top Gun in 1986 with Kelly McGillis, who played an aviation instructor he finds romance with.

Last year Tom had ‘Kiss Me Kate’ inscribed on the nose of his first Mustang in an affectionate gesture towards wife Katie Holmes (above)
He gained his pilot’s licence in 1994 and last year he had ‘Kiss Me Kate’ inscribed on the nose of his first Mustang in an affectionate gesture towards his 28-year-old actress wife Katie Holmes.

His latest Mustang makes him even more of a flying rival for fellow Scientologist and actor John Travolta, who owns three Gulfstream jets, a Learjet and a customised Boeing 707B, which he keeps outside his home in Florida.

The Mustang entered service in the middle years of the Second World War. It was designed in America to meet British requirements and was used by the RAF and the US Air Force.

It flew on reconnaissance missions and as a bomber escort in raids over Germany, making use of its speed and versatility.

It is one of the most recognisable planes from that era and later gave its name to the Ford Mustang coupÇ.

The second Mustang P-51 is the latest example of Tom splashing out recently. He has bought an £18 million seven-bedroom dream home for Katie and his children Isabella and Conor and new baby Suri in Beverly Hills.

It is close to their friends David and Victoria Beckham, who have snapped up an Italian-style villa for £11 million.

Tom also spent £50,000 on a custom-made Vyrus 985 motorbike which he had shipped from Rimini in Italy after seeing a model in a Californian showroom. (Source: Daily Mail)

We received scans of an interview with Tom, by Cameron Crowe, back in 1996. I know it’s old but it’s a really nice interview to read, so enjoy it at our gallery. You can view the scans here. The magazine’s name is also ‘Interview’.

Also starring are Robert Downey as Kirk Lazarus, the greatest actor of his generation and a four-time Oscar winner. Jay Baruchel (Knocked Up) will play Kevin Sandusky, an unknown actor on the set. Bill Hader (Superbad) plays Rob Slolom. Tom Cruise was also confirmed as appearing by Baruchel.

Vyrus 985C3 4V

TOM CRUISE has splashed out £50,000 on a custom-built 170mph motorbike.

He fell in love with the Vyrus 985C3 4V Italian racer after seeing it at a showroom near his Beverly Hills home.

Cruise, 44, already has a collection of more than a dozen bikes. His latest was made in Rimini on the Adriatic Coast.

Vyrus director Ascanio Rodorigo personally delivered it to Cruise, below. He said: “To get it right we had to weigh Tom and take his height and riding position — that way, when he rides it, it feels like a tailor-made suit.” (Source: The Sun)

If you found yourself doing a double take along the Potomac Saturday, that really was Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes biking the C&O Canal towpath into Georgetown, reports the Reliable Source’s Amy Argetsinger. The Hollywood twosome made a weekend trip to Potomac to visit Redskins owner Dan Snyder and wife Tanya, Snyder spokesman Karl Swanson confirmed yesterday. The two couples (with at least two bodyguards) biked down to Georgetown and hung out at the waterfront park, where they drew a crowd. TomKat graciously signed autographs and posed for photos. (Not too late to send us yours! reliablesource@washpost.com). They stopped off to dine at the Old Angler’s Inn on the way back. DanTom cemented their friendship last year when the D.C. mogul agreed to help finance Cruise’s production company. (Source: Washington Post)

Branagh set for Singer’s ‘Valkyrie’
Actor joins Cruise in WWII drama
By MICHAEL FLEMING
Branagh

Kenneth Branagh will star with Tom Cruise in “Valkyrie,” the Bryan Singer-directed WWII drama that shoots this summer for United Artists.
Branagh will play a German general who mentors Cruise’s character and hatches a plan to assassinate Hitler. Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander scripted, based on a true story.

Singer and McQuarrie, who will produce, brought the project to Cruise and Paula Wagner in March; Cruise committed to star shortly thereafter. Project marked the second film to which UA committed and also the second in which Cruise is starring (he also toplines the Robert Redford-directed “Lions for Lambs”).

Pic begins lensing July 19 in Berlin.

Branagh recently finished directing a “Sleuth” remake that stars Michael Caine and Jude Law and a version of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” that will premiere on HBO in September. (Source: Variety)

Even Katie Holmes screams for ice cream

When actress Katie Holmes got hungry while filming “Mad Money” in Shreveport, she did what a lot of people here do — headed straight for Louisiana Boardwalk and the tasty ice cream cones at Cold Stone Creamery.

Graciously, Holmes bought the entire cast and crew of the film, including Queen Latifah, Diane Keaton and Ted Danson, ice cream from the well-known creamery.

“Her assistant called and ordered 300 waffle cones,” said shift leader Shawana Bruno.

Holmes’ favorites were semifattening raspberry sorbet, berry berry, and caramel turtle.

Owner Jami Kauffman then met with Holmes’ assistants on the set of the new movie filming in downtown Shreveport to serve up her cones.

It was clear at least some of the ice cream went to Holmes’ new husband, Tom Cruise.

“I said I needed some help with the ice cream and one of the assistants told me he had to drive the boss around instead,” she said.

Kauffman asked, “Who’s the boss?”

“His wife’s in the movie,” said the assistant. “He’s only here for three days.”

Kauffman said she was treated very well on the set and even saw some tapes of the new movie in progress.

“Normally actors don’t care,” she said. “It was really cool of Katie to get the crew ice cream.” (Source: Shreveport Times)

Out and About with Maggie Martin/Shreveport Times: Tom, Katie and Suri in the park

Members of the girls softball team hanging out with Tom Cruise earlier this month at Betty Virginia Park are Emily Batte (left), Janie Hooper, Ellie Marcotte, Madeline Greenleaf, Isabelle Watkins, Katie Cordone and Peyton Brooks.

And, this is not the photo that ran in In Touch magazine, emphasized Kay Batte, mom of Emily and team coach.

“This was taken by April Greenleaf, one of our parents,” said Batte. “What’s funny is that there really wasn’t anyone else in the park because of the rain. Some of the girls do remember a lady walking up at the last minute taking a picture. I guess she … sold our picture.”

The group was, of course, shocked, but excited to be in a national magazine. However. “We don’t want Tom and Katie to think we sold them out,” wrote Batte.

And, here is the rest of the story.

The softball team was practicing in the rain when Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and baby Suri appeared.

They borrowed a softball for Suri to play with and watched practice for about 10 minutes.

“They thanked us for the ball and wished us luck on our game,” said Batte.

The kids didn’t even know who the “famous people” were!

As they left, Batte jogged over and asked if they would sign an autograph.

The couple did better than that.

Both actors signed a softball for each child, talked to them about sports and sports they played when they were growing up.

“They squatted in the middle of my girls and put Suri between them. They talked to the girls about Suri and let them play with her,” said Batte.

The parents who witnessed it all were impressed with the way Holmes and Cruise took time with group.

“They seemed to be in no hurry and were very genuine,” said Batte.

Their actions dispelled other stories they had read about the two.

“They spent a total of about 25 minutes with us. We took one picture with Tom before we all left. He high-fived my girls, wished them luck on their game, shook my hand and told us it was nice to meet us … We were all very impressed.” (Source: Blog)

Tom Cruise scientifically has the ideal male face — advertises health, conforms symmetrically to the “Golden Mask” -

His facial proportions conform to a male ideal
The male face advertises – “I’m healthy, I can provide resources and I’m tough – don’t antagonize me & don’t threaten me or those who I am protecting.”
