Good for Paula to stand up for her friend!
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ — Paula Wagner, the co-owner and CEO of United Artists Entertainment, issued the following statement regarding her long-time friend and business partner Tom Cruise.
“I have known and worked with Tom for more than 25 years. He’s a rock-solid dependable partner, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for his talent, integrity, kindness, and dedication. Andrew Morton’s book is a disgraceful piece of gossip-mongering, filled with distortions and outright lies that no sensible person will take seriously. I am not a Scientologist, nor are most of the people Tom and I work with, but that doesn’t mean I can sit by silently while he is attacked for his religious beliefs. As a filmmaker and an American, I feel strongly that an individual’s religion should have no bearing on their professional life. I have always believed that Americans celebrated these differences, and to see the vitriol that has been directed towards my friend is truly discouraging. It’s easy to mock an out-of-context video, but that doesn’t change the fact that Tom Cruise is one of the hardest-working and nicest human beings I have ever known.”

I agree with Paula Wagners comments entirely. I think the show-biz media can get out of control sometimes. I’m not a scientologist and have not personally met Tom. What he does with his life is his business. It strikes me that he has had an extraordinary life, energy, and commitment to his family, faith, and his successes. I wonder sometimes how it is possible to have a normal life with the intense pressure of media and public! I think Andrew Morton has crossed a line, in which he has reduced his own credibility by being so shallow about someone elses life. From a fan in New Zealand.

Anonymous, You seriously spend way too much time discussing what you read about him in the tabloids. We as fans still respect his talent and hard work. It’s ashame what the media is doing. He is a loving father and supportive husband and a great actor. Nobody has to agree with everything he says, but he does mean well, and genuinely wants to help others. I’m not a scientologist either, and I certainly don’t see why I would let his beliefs bother me.

ymhewlett, you said it all. I’m too angry to be able to say a word in reaction to the media bashing on Tom.
I only hope there will be more celebrities or people from the show biz voicing their support for Tom.
By the way, where are the other Scientology celebrities? Why they don’t come out and defending Tom? They came out to speak out for Tom and Katie when the media threw out nasty rumors about Suri.

[] TOM COULDN’T BE ANY FURTHER FROM IMMORAL! He sets a great example for youth. He’s anti-drug for one, and if you haven’t noticed, he is an incredible husband and father.

Relax guys. Realize that the media is scum and many journalists are scum. They are puppets and they are controlled by scum. Scum wants to have more scum around and hates to have anything decent around. It’s a scumfest. Just don’t read it. Many celebrities have caved in to this sort of thing. Tom is unique. He will give the media the finger and continue to do what he does best - entertain. He’s AMAZING!
