Last weekend was all about the youngest Cruise at Suri’s second birthday, but it was just Tom and the big kids Saturday night when he took Connor and Isabella to watch the Galaxy play. It was quite an exciting game, too as Beckham helped to lead his team to a 5-2 victory over Chivas. (Source: Popsugar)

Tom & Oprah

Tom Cruise puts the squeeze on Oprah while filming a TV segment at Tom’s home in Telluride, Colorado.
One teaser question Oprah asks Tom: “How’s Kate’s family accepting you?”
After interviewing Tom, Oprah said, “I had a great time with him, so that’s on Friday’s show. And then we’re celebrating 25 years of him in the business.”
This footage will air on The Oprah Winfrey Show this Friday, May 2.
Then, on Monday, May 5, the talk show queen will grill Cruise, 45, from her Chicago studio about Scientology, his lashing out against Matt Lauer on the Today show and his wild couch jumping antics.

It’s a very risky business, after all.
It seems the casting of Tom Cruise’s son, Connor, in the upcoming Will Smith movie Seven Pounds was even a surprise to costar Rosario Dawson—that is, until a certain Hollywood top gun showed up one day.
The actress tells E! News that while the story about Connor’s involvement in the flick just went public a few days ago, she’s known for quite some time, and recalls how she first found out.
“I think it’s actually really funny. During rehearsals, Tom walks in, and I’m like, OK, I guess they’re just having a visit,” says Dawson.
“And then his son was there, and he’s like, ‘No, he’s actually playing the younger version of Will, and he was there to sign his contracts. It was hilarious. And Tom was just like, ‘Yeah, make sure you read the fine
print.’ ”
That’s one lion looking out for his lamb. (E! Online)

Tom returning to Oprah
ET confirms that Tom Cruise is heading back to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” this May for a two-part stint!
First, Oprah will travel to Tom’s home in Telluride, CO, for a sitdown on May 2, where she’ll discuss “his family, life and the future,” with the superstar. Then, Tom will join Oprah in the studio on Monday, May 5 to celebrate 25 years since his star-making turn in ‘Risky Business.’ The show will also feature taped messages from his friends and colleagues, talking about his impact on cinema.
Oprah and Tom will have a lot to catch up on as the actor’s life has changed dramatically since the last time he visited the talk show maven in 2005. Since his last visit, he married Katie Holmes and welcomed their baby daughter Suri. (Source: ET, April 24, 2008)

Isn’t this awesome?
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Connor Cruise will make his film debut in the upcoming Will Smith drama Seven Pounds, PEOPLE has learned.
Connor, 13 – who has grown up around movie sets with mom Nicole Kidman and dad Tom Cruise – will play a young version of Smith in a very minor role. Even with such famous acting mentors in his corner, Connor had to audition for the part.
“Tom is so proud of Connor,” says a source. “He’s proud of him for really doing this on his own.”
The Columbia Pictures film, which is still in production, also costars Woody Harrelson and Rosario Dawson.

Regal Entertainment Group Chairman and CEO Mike Campbell received the Pioneer of the Year award Wednesday night in Santa Monica, Calif., from the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation.
Campbell, who entered the movie theater business in 1982 in Claiborne County, formed Regal Cinemas Inc. in 1989 and has grown the Knoxville-based company to become the world’s largest theater chain.
Campbell was recognized for contributions to the film industry and was presented with the Pioneer of the Year award by actor Tom Cruise during a ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The event raised $1.2 million for the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation and the proceeds will go to the Pioneers Assistance Fund to help motion picture industry veterans in need.
“I was certainly grateful and humbled by the award, but neither Regal nor I do what we do for the recognition. We do it because it is the right thing to do,” Campbell said Thursday.
Past Pioneer of the Year honorees have included Cecil B. DeMille, Jack Warner, Darryl F. Zanuck, Jack Valenti, Sumner Redstone and Sherry Lansing.
Campbell’s family and many Regal executives attended the presentation, which included entertainment by actor/comedian Kevin Pollack and music by John Fogerty.
“The entertainment was terrific. The highlight of the evening was Tom Cruise’s presentation of the Pioneer of the Year award to Mike Campbell,” said Regal spokesman Dick Westerling.
In his introduction of Campbell, Cruise pointed to characteristics the two have in common, including a passion for movies, meager backgrounds growing up and vows to help others less fortunate.
“Through hard work and determination, he turned a small business with one theater into the largest movie theater chain in the world,” Cruise said of Campbell. “He also revolutionized fundraising by being the first theater chain to promote to customers that Regal would donate a portion of the chain’s concession sales to charity. Not only did it improve concession sales, but it enabled Regal to raise over $14 million in the last 10 years on behalf of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Foundation.” (Source: Knox News)
