It wasn’t just any old ceremony when Cameron Diaz got her star on Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame, it was a star-studded event: Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and sister Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu gathered with the hundred of fans who witnessed Diaz’s honor in front of the Egyptian Theater on Monday.
Diaz, whose My Sister’s Keeper opens Friday, credited her success to her parents and said, “I dedicate this star to the eternal love that my mom and dad shared. It was what has given me the strength and courage to live this extraordinary life, and it was that powers the light that burns inside of me, bright enough for me to be honored today with this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Diaz, 36, is the 2,386th star to be so honored on the famed sidewalk. Her beloved father, Emilio Diaz, died in April 2008, at age 58. The actress’s mother, Billie, as well as her older sister, Chimene, also attended the ceremony.

About being asked how it feels that Tom and others showed up to support her, Cameron responded that “it’s wonderful” and called them “an extension to my family”. To watch this, click here:
The day before, Tom took his son Connor to watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota/Save Mart 350 at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Click here to view pics…
I don’t want you to be left hanging out to dry, and I can imagine some of you are feeling a bit frustrated about the lack of updates lately. A few words from me about that.
First of all, I can only speak for myself but I can assure you I care about the site. The ones who have come here for many years know that I’ve done a lot for this site through the years, so you know I care. But things change, and my life has changed as well. I’m not the teenager with tons of time on my hands any more. I have a family and kids to take care of, they’re my no. 1 priority and be honest – you’d make them your no. 1 priority as well, right?! ;-D So that’s my reason for not being able to update that much any more.
Second, it’s clear that we could use moderators. So if you know any one, let us know! We need serious people who are die hard fans and know a bit about websites, uploading stuff, etc.
Last but not least, Please know that I’ve talked to Annie about all of this and she’ll get back to you soon – today if possible – hopefully to tell you some good news about TCF. Please hang on a little longer, people!
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – J.J. Abrams and Tom Cruise are back in business, agreeing to co-produce a fourth “Mission: Impossible” movie with a potential 2011 release date.
Abrams directed Cruise in the third installment of Paramount’s TV-derived franchise, which grossed $395 million worldwide in summer 2006.
But the future of the franchise was thrown into doubt — at least in terms of Cruise’s participation — when Viacom chief Sumner Redstone discontinued his studio’s long relationship with the star three months after the movie opened.
Relatively speaking, “M:i:3″ was a box-office disappointment, compared with the second film’s worldwide gross of $545 million and the original film’s take of $452 million.
Abrams recently rebooted a moribund franchise by taking it back to its beginnings with a bunch of young, relatively unknown actors. His “Star Trek,” released six weeks ago, has grossed $335 million worldwide so far.
Abrams is not on board to direct the new “Impossible,” and no writers have been hired to work on the fourth iteration of the franchise.
“Mission: Impossible IV,” which once seemed truly impossible, is taking shape at Paramount.
Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have agreed to co-produce the sequel, which is aimed at a 2011 release.
The return of Cruise to Par itself is surprising in view of the circumstances surrounding his departure in August 2006. Apparently irked by the heft of Cruise’s deal, among other issues, Viacom chief Sumner Redstone abruptly terminated the 14-year relationship between the star and the studio. Cruise’s then-CAA agent, Rick Nicita, termed Redstone’s decision “shockingly offensive and graceless.”
The rift led to Cruise becoming the chief of United Artists and taking a more active role in production decisions. Redstone, meanwhile, has sought to heal the relationship. At a recent appearance, he described the star as “a great actor and a good friend.”
The “Mission” installment would augment Paramount’s formidable array of sequels, which will include “Star Trek 2″ and a third “Transformers.”
Work on “Mission: Impossible IV” would inevitably be delayed by the busy schedules of the participants.
Abrams will be responsible for guiding the “Star Trek” sequel, while Cruise recently committed to an untitled pic (formerly called “Wichita”) for 20th Century Fox that will be directed by James Mangold and co-star Cameron Diaz.
Cruise and Denzel Washington are also awaiting a rewrite on the David Cronenberg-directed “The Matarese Circle,” the MGM thriller based on the Robert Ludlum novel.
Katie Holmes has lashed out at “spiteful” rumours claiming that her marriage to Tom Cruise is on the rocks, insisting that “enough is enough”.
The 30-year-old actress declared: “Some of the stuff people have said is absolutely horrible. It is so disgusting and uncalled for.”
Last week, Hollywood rumour mill went into overdrive after an American magazine and internet stories claimed that the two-and-a-half year marriage is in turmoil and the couple are heading for divorce, reports The Daily Express.
However, Katie – who has just finished a new film, a comedy called The Extra Man and her stint in New York – is now back home in the couple’s Beverly Hills mansion with Cruise, 46, and Suri. (more…)
Tom Cruise is zeroing in on the 20th Century Fox action comedy, formerly titled “Wichita,” as his next star vehicle.
He’ll pair with Cameron Diaz in the James Mangold-directed film. That ends a serious courtship that the star had since January with some of the highest-profile projects in Hollywood.
According to sources, Cruise and Diaz have approved the script, and their deals are in advanced negotiations. While Fox has not officially dated the picture, sources said the studio is eyeing a summer 2010 release.
The script has been through many machinations, but the most recent drafts were done by Scott Frank, with Mangold currently fine-tuning the script with Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island”). Two-hander has several action scenes.
Cruise will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.
Todd Garner, Kathy Conrad, Steve Pink and Joe Roth are producing the pic.
Since the opening of “Valkyrie,” Cruise has been courted for and has shown serious interest in the Len Wiseman-directed DreamWorks thriller “Motorcade”; the Bharat Nalluri-directed Spyglass remake “The Tourist”; the David Cronenberg-directed MGM drama “The Matarese Circle”; the Universal/Working Title romantic comedy “Lost for Words”; and “The 28th Amendment,” the Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck-directed Warner Bros. thriller.

Note from Chantal: Thanks Michelle and Charley for your comments. You were right, the former post here didn’t get the facts right. I’ve deleted that post and replaced it with the Variety story, which should have been posted in the first place. Apologies for that.
