It seems Posh Spice took a workshop in P.R. whoring from Tom Cruise.

The two megastars, along with Katie Holmes, hit the only place in Hollywood where they had zero chance of flying under the paparazzi radar yesterday– the Ivy restaurant on Robertson.

The threesome arrived at the exclusive eatery in a black SUV, and while Tom never actually entered the restaurant, it was obvious that he had another mission — image makeover. The wee actor was all smiles as he opened the car door, escorted the women out of the car and even walked them up to the host. Such a gentleman.

Earlier in the day, Posh battled a sea of screaming photogs at a few other celebrity hotspots — Kitson and Fred Segal. Donning sunglasses and in the care of giant security guards, Mrs. Beckham battled her way into the shops, pretending to loathe the attention every step of way. Nicole Richie was spotted across the street … but nobody seemed to care.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes out in public … What have they been up to?
Well, as usual, Katie’s been doing what she does best … Shopping! She was spotted in several chic places shopping for herself & for baby Suri.
As for Tom, well … He hasn’t been seen around, but rumor has it that he’s trying to keep close to Suri, whom he’s hiding well, because he’s afraid that some crazed people might kidnap her!

But, in the past couple of days, it seems Mr. & Mrs. Cruise got fed up with eating in & decided to go out & enjoy a sophisticated meal at their favorite place Wolfgang Puck’s Cut at the Beverly Wilshire.
They also took out their friend Victoria Beckham out to The Ivy the other day … We’re going to be seeing a lot of them all together because The Beckhams are moving to L.A. Later this year!

Actress Nicole Kidman is thankful to ex-hubby Tom Cruise for pushing her to voice her concerns about a film’s script she had liked earlier, but disapproved later after it had been overhauled – much to the actress’ displeasure.Kidman feared she’d made a huge mistake when she arrived in Spain to shoot creepy film The Others after realising there had been a rewrite on the script she’d read.

“I read the script and thought, ‘Great.’ Then I went and did Moulin Rouge. I went back and read the script, and there had been a rewrite on it, and I thought, ‘This isn’t the film I wanted to make,’” Contactmusic quoted her, as telling The Hollywood Reporter.

The Australian actress admits the Mission Impossible star – who was then her husband – helped her voice her opinion to the movie’s director Alejandro Amenabar. Kidman says she fought with him for two weeks in an effort to persuade him to rethink his script changes, which turned her character into a child-beating mother.

“I arrived in Spain and in this script, I am hitting a child – and I saw this film as being about a mother’s love for her children, not her desire to kill the children. There was conflict for about two weeks between us (Kidman and Amenabar), and we ended up with a great experience together. (Later) he said, ‘I am so glad you fought for that,’”

Ben Stiller has spoken out in defense of Tom Cruise, insisting it was “wrong” for Paramount Studios to axe its deal with the superstar last year.

Meet the Parents star Stiller insists Paramount boss Sumner Redstone should never have sacked Cruise after blaming his couch-jumping appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s TV show for embarrassing the studio and hampering the box office performance of Mission: Impossible III. And Stiller also believes Hollywood’s highest earners deserve their staggeringly high salaries.

He says, “Studios don’t pay out of the kindness of their heart. It’s all an equation to them. That’s all.
“At the end of the day there is only one Tom Cruise and it might be that whoever is paying the stars goes, ‘Well, we don’t necessarily need to pay that much.’
“But I think it was wrong for Sumner Redstone to go after Tom like that. It was out of left field.
“For the most part, Hollywood will stop paying the stars when it stops making sense to them to pay the stars. And they don’t pay anybody a cent over what it’s worth to them. It’s not like you see these studios losing money.” (Hollywood.com)

Oscar poster lines ‘em up
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ poster for the 79th Oscars features 75 of the most memorable and quotable lines from movie history.
Poster, conceived and designed for the Academy by TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles, features a photograph of the statuette by Albert Watson.

“If a picture is worth a thousand words, then each quote is worth at least 500,” said Academy prexy Sid Ganis. The quotes were chosen by members of the Acad’s board of governors and other Academy staff members.

All the lines showcased in the poster — except one — are from films that received an Oscar nomination for picture, screenplay or both between 1936 and 2005. The only film with two quotes is 1996′s “Jerry Maguire.”

Acad reps said the lone exception among the 75 would provide a guessing game for film fans.
The 27×40 poster, printed on premium recycled paper, uses a black canvas and highlights the quotes in gold metallic ink.
More than 65,000 posters have been distributed worldwide, and the poster is available for purchase through March 12 via the Academy’s Web site or by calling 800-554-1814.

The four quotes from Tom’s movies are:

“Ten minutes to Wapner” from “Rain Man,” 1988

“You can’t handle the truth!” from “A Few Good Men,” 1992

“Show me the money!” from “Jerry Maguire,” 1996

Cruise & Jolie Named Access Hollywood’s Top Stars Of The Year

Access Hollywood, currently in
its 11th season, has named its “Top Newsmakers of 2006,” with Tom
Cruise coming in as number one male newsmaker and Angelina Jolie the
number one female newsmaker. The lists of top male and female celebrities, television shows and films will be revealed on Access Hollywood throughout the week of December 25, 2006.

Access Hollywood’s Top Newsmakers of 2006 were calculated according
to the number of stories the program dedicated to each celebrity,
television show and film over the course of the year. “From nuptials and new babies to dancing, singing, and some sad splits, 2006 was a whirlwind year,” said Access Hollywood executive producer Rob Silverstein. I’m sure there will be much more to come from all these stars and top shows in 2007.”

Below are the men, women, television shows and films that made the cut, and the number of stories dedicated to them in 2006. Last year, top honors were given to pop star Michael Jackson with 77 stories, but this year Cruise took the top spot raising the bar to 94 stories (45 more stories than were dedicated to him in 2005). Cruise’s new bride and newcomer to the lists, Katie Holmes was also a major newsmaker this year coming in at number two of the top women of 2006. Other newcomers to the lists include Brad Pitt, “Dancing With the Stars,” Lindsay Lohan and Madonna, while Cruise, Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson made the list once again.

Tom and Katie both were spotted shopping: Tom bought himself a new plane a few days ago … He was seen at Burbank Airport checking it out. I don’t have pics of it yet but as soon as we do, we’ll post them. (Waleg.com)

She celebrated her 28th birthday on Sunday so Katie Holmes could be forgiven for treating herself to a special shopping spree. But the newlywed clearly had her baby daughter and husband Tom Cruise on her mind as she hit the Marc Jacobs store in LA.
The Batman Begins actress, who brightened up her top-to-toe black ensemble with a pair of pillar-box red heels, has been settling into married life now all the wedding celebrations are over. She spent time exploring the racks in the New York designer’s boutique before picking out some pretty items for daughter Suri and men’s jumpers – possibly for Tom.
But she didn’t go empty handed herself, choosing a beige poncho to keep her warm and stylish over the winter months. She has marked herself out as something of a fashion leader this year, hitting the runway shows with new best pal Victoria Beckham and earning column inches with her wardrobe choices. Katie’s alleged bump was also the topic of conversation after the couple’s post-wedding party in California. However, Tom’s representative has denied the rumors, saying, “To our knowledge, Katie is not pregnant.”

More websites quote ‘In Touch’ magazine’s top 10 of most romantic weddings (see earlier post) – moldova.org even says it’s proof “Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are still the best and unbeatable”.
