UCLA Film School lauds Cruise/Wagner
Tom Cruise and producing partner Paula Wagner have been tapped to receive the Vision Award from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television and the Producers Guild of America.

Kudos will be awarded at the UCLA Producers Marketplace competition June 17 at the Writers Guild of America West Theater in Beverly Hills.

Award is given to industryites whose body of work exemplifies quality, persistence and integrity. Mark Gordon received the inaugural Vision Award last year.

Berlin Welcomes Cruise
Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise is thrilled after German authorities reconsidered their ban on him filming part of blockbuster sequel Mission: Impossible 3 at Berlin’s historic Reichstag parliament building.
The Minority Report star has been given permission to shoot some scenes outside the prestigious parliament structure during recess, although the interior of the building – including its 130 foot glass and steel dome – remains off-limits.

Hi everybody,
Here’s the news I’ve found these days. The FBI has arrested the screener pirate, so that’s also the one who had put TLS on the internet. Stories from CBS Arrest In ‘Screener’ Upload Case, The plot thickens from Empire Online talks about a smirkin’ Jack Valenti (MPAA chief) who had predicted this piracy would happen – story’s not that interesting but I’m only reporting it! The BBC also reports that the FBI arrest Oscar movie ‘pirate’.
Smh.com.au predicts the winners/losers of the Golden Globe Awards in their story Aussies expected to be pipped at Globes; TLS is named the no. 2 favourite to win. We think it’s the no. 1 of course!! The Hollywood Reporter.com names ‘Collateral’ as one of the promising movies this year: Big films ahead should make ’04 big boxoffice year. They think ‘Collateral’ is “a very attractive late summer slot” and “a good boxoffice ride”. I also found this story from SFGate.com: Cruz denies breaking up Kidman marriage and Sky.com reports the top 10 best smiles in hollywood; Cameron’s winning grin is no. 1 and Tom’s no. 10 (strange).

  Of course Cruz will say she didn’t break up the marriage, but I think she definitely contributed to its demise. Just like Kidman, who took up with Cruise way before his marriage to Mimi ended, Cruz will reap what she sowed. Not only was she dating him while he was still legally married, she even moved in with him and his children way before they even signed the divorce papers. You can’t do something like that and expect it to work out in your favor. Because it won’t. I wonder if she’ll have the audacity to attend the Golden Globes with him?

  Namecalling is so unnecessary. If you’ll calm down and read my post, you will see that I specifically said that Kidman reaped what she sowed because she too took up with him while he was still married. In fact, he hadn’t even moved out from Mimi when he began shacking up with Kidman. In the end, he walked out on Kidman and next thing we know, he’s taken up with Cruz.

  You seem to have such a vested interest in this and are taking it so personally, when it isn’t a personal attack against you or anyone else on this board; these are merely statements of fact. Call it a way to keep the suck up at a medium level, if you will. I stand by my post and there was nothing evil or vicious about it, nor my intentions. As a mature person, I understand that movie actors are humans who make mistakes and get it wrong sometimes, including Tom. I can like his work, like him even, without being a blind fanatic about his human failings. Just because Tom is with Cruz isn’t enough reason for me to like her or support either of them in their inappropriate behavior. That said, I thought he looked good at the GGs and I thought his bringing his mother was totally appropriate. And I don’t believe for a minute that Cruz flew all the way to Madrid because her father, a man who is only a few years older than Cruise, is that ill. Cruise said she left “a couple of hours ago” when Pat O’Brien interviewed him on the red carpet. In fact, Tom also told Joan Rivers that he had worked all night the night before and had only three hours’ sleep. Since his mom does not live in LA (she lives in Fla.), it had to have been planned way before that she would attend the GGs with him, rather than Cruz.

  Reality does not change simply because we refuse to deal with it. And sometimes reality is ugly. Even for fanatical Tom Cruise fans. Take care.
