Brooke Shields says Tom Cruise has apologized for publicly criticizing her use of antidepressants after the birth of her first daughter.

The two had a public beef last year after the “Mission: Impossible III” star, echoing the position of Scientology, said in an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show that depression can be treated with exercise and vitamins rather than drugs.

The 41-year-old actress says Cruise apologized in person Thursday.

“He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology,” Shields said Friday during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” “And he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened.

“And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn’t feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it.”

Cruise’s spokesman confirmed the celebrities made up.

“It is true that his friendship with Ms. Shields has been mended,” spokesman Arnold Robinson said in a statement. “He has not changed his position about antidepressants, which as evidenced by the black label warnings issued by the FDA on these types of drugs, are unhealthy.” (Examiner)

8 Comments to “Brooke Shields Says Tom Has Apologized”

  • I don’t feel he needed to apologize because he has a right to his beliefs. I agree with him on the drug issue. Maybe using Brooke Shields by name was wrong but I believe he had her best interests in mind. Tom would never purposely hurt anyone. I hope he continues to be himself and not feel because of the Paramoun/Viacom issue that he has to be a different person. He is just fine the way he is. I am from Minnesota and I have now become a Washington Redskin fan instead of the Vikings, because the owner is going to back Tom financially. GO SKINS

  • I am so tired of people beating this man into the ground. For once, a man is showing his emotions. I wish more men were like him. The man is sexy, talented and can sell some movies. I would never stop watching him. I say to all the critics and all their numbers-when it comes down it, who cares. I still love Tom Cruise and always will.

  • i sure hope he carefully selected his words and did not go back on his position that psychiatric drugs are not needed. it is one thing to apologize for his use of her name, it is entirely different if he wimped out.

  • If Tom would have thought before he spoke, he wouldn’t have had to apologize. Not too scientific for someone from the Church of Scientology!

  • I am glad Tom and Brooke have mended fences….I don’t know if Tom or Katie ever read blogs about them, but if they do; here is a positive one! Most of what is printed in the media is taken out of context and your fans know this. Stay strong and you will rise above. You are a top-notch actor with millions of fans, and a genuinely good person. May you, Katie and Suri live the happy life you deserve!!

  • eventually this will all blow over and Tom can get back to making movies once again and forget all this nonsense and negativity. Don’t read the gossip anymore, stand by Tom when his next movie comes out, keep writing positive things on the site, and keep the faith. Thanks to Brooks Shields for stepping up for Tom, she didn’t have to do it. I dont think she would use her time on the Leno show just make Tom look good in the eyes of the american people if she truly didnt believe in his apology. Heres to all of the fans, we need to stay loyal and positive, keep watching the movies.

  • I love you Tom Cruise……….You deserve all the best………….so…keeeeeeeeep goinng on……………
