Foxx Defends Cruise from Bad Press

(Hi everybody, I’m back from vacation, so back online! Not much to report, just the following)

Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx has hit out at the press for giving his Collateral co-star Tom Cruise a hard time in recent months.

Foxx believes reporters want to knock Cruise, who is a devoted Scientologist and recently announced his whirlwind engagement to Katie Holmes, off his pedestal as Hollywood’s biggest star simply because he is so phenomenally successful.

He says, “Tom Cruise is like the Michael Jordan (US basketball legend) of acting. He looks like he has everything–and he does. He has never had a fall. So people are looking for him to trip and fall. If someone had squirted water in my face, I would have whooped their a*s.”

Cruise hit the headlines in June when pranksters from Britain’s Channel 4 network squirted the actor with water on the red carpet of the War of the Worlds premiere. The shocked actor confronted the culprit, repeatedly labelling the man “a jerk”, but later decided he would not press charges.

  What Bacall said about Tom doesn’t bother me a bit. Her comment obviously gives more ammunition to Tom’s basher, and predictably we are going to see another field days of bashing Tom. Every media will print and broadcast it, and any poll that is taken after her comment will be unfavorable of Tom. Her comment is not going to make a dent on Cruise’s career, but it will put her name back on the media circulation. A good way, huh, to draw attention to herself.

  Remember, the haters are always the loudest while the fans are more laid back. People who want to see his movie still go to see it because they know he has made good movies. Tom will survive another critic and his die-hard fans including me will always stand by him. Tom is a great actor and a good hearted person, what else can we expect from him?

  Just read Lauren Bacall’s comments about Tom Cruise. If Mr Cruise is “sick” perhaps he should do what Miss Bacall did which was to go on news shows and promote a pharmaceutical company’s drug by saying how it helped her. Of course she neglected to say that she was being paid by the manufacturers. I lost all respect for her after that. It’s too bad she can’t age gracefully and is now seeking publicity by attacking others.

  good for jamie foxx at least some people can see tom for who he is he is exactly right in what he is saying some people just want to see him fail possibly because they cant succed themselves

  I hope Tom does not think everyone in britain is like the Jerk who squirted him with water. unfortunely you do get lowlifes who will do anything to get any sort of publicity, To advertise their pathetic tv show!(I CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE WATCHING)know wonder kids are turning out too be morons if this is the kind of example being shown too them!
