Golden Globes

  • Collateral was completely shut out at the Golden Globe nominees this morning. The film’s only nomination went to Jamie Foxx for Best Supporting Actor. Congrats to him! Access Hollywood ran a piece on this:

Back on the big screen, Jamie Foxx took home a nod for best actor in a supporting role for “Collateral,” however director Michael Mann, the film itself and co-star Tom Cruise received nothing.

“Tom Cruise — probably the biggest star who was thought to have a good chance at a nomination — walked away with nothing,” Karger noted.

Maybe in 2018, the hope will be revived :-) . On a bright side, don’t forget to buy both Collateral and Top Gun S.E DVD’s tomorrow!

    • What a bummer! Do you think it’s more painful for us as his fans to see Tom is shunned from any awards than he actually feels for himself?

Tom will survive another shut-out award season as he has done in the past. He’s a person with positive attitudes and would not let the event interupts his dedication to the film making.
At time like this, to make me feel better about Tom I’d watch his old movies. I just saw BOFJ and MI1 played on TV, and what an amazing performance he did on both movies.

Will the hope be revived in 2018? I wish I had the crystall ball so I could see what year he is going to win the caveated award(s). With or without awards, Tom is our man, he is The Best!

    • It’s a true fairy tale story: I live near Athens and on the local news it told how a young woman on the set who was an extra fainted due to the fumes from the ship. A crew member ran to her side and yelled “Hey we need some help over here!” Guess who of all people started running as fast as possible, jumping railings and all that good stuff. That’s right. Tom Cruise. He came to the girls side and basically ‘rescued’ her. You can imagine my jealousy. To faint, and be rescued by Tom Cruise? What a dream! So I thought I would tell you guys that story.

    • Hey Im not pushing you I swear :)
But only to know; the 3º part of the video of the week will be on the air before christmans?
Thank you !…and have a great Christmans everybody!!

    • It ALWAYS goes that way; he’s just has too much success!

    • Still, I’m not worried that Collateral didn’t receive more Globe nominations. It is of course an extremely well made and acted film, yet the filmmaking (digital) gives us a more ‘real feel’, and perhaps the public, critics, and movie-making industry are still looking for a more familiar formula. Tom was superb as Vincent – so good in fact, that it would be easy to miss him.

    Golden Globes

The Last Samurai picked up three Golden Globe nominations! Tom Cruise is nominated for Best Actor which makes this the seventh time he got nominated (he won three times before; for “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Jerry Maguire” and a supporting actor win for “Magnolia”). Ken Watanabe is nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Hans Zimmer (the music man) for Best Original Score for TLS. People.com has the complete story. About three more weeks and then we’ll know the nominations for the Oscars (27th of January)… Let’s hope Tom and TLS will get lots of nominations and oscars!
The latest slide show from Yahoo! includes 80 pictures of Tom, TLS, premiere pics and even Minority Report-stuff. You check it out here and I also found pics at Getty Images.
Don’t forget to vote for Tom!! and for Penélope if you like.

More on Golden Globes and Tom’s reaction here and watch a video here.

“After his nod for “The Last Samurai,” three-time winner Tom Cruise landed in a helicopter at the Santa Monica Airport, and jumped the fence to share his excitement with us.

Cruise said, “It’s wonderful, it’s wonderful. I don’t make films to get these kinds of awards, but every time it’s like icing on the cake.”

And Cruise told us that he couldn’t be happier about his ex-wife Nicole Kidman’s nomination for “Cold Mountain,” a movie that received eight nominations without being released yet. Cruise said, “I’m very proud of her, she is a great actress”

Screen caps from his GG reaction tonight.

    • i am so glad for tom.he did it again. good for him. i hope that he gets it! if he does get the golden globe last years winner nicole kidman will give him the award. i hope that he does win! he will prove to all those people who say that he cant act, that he can. i just saw the movie today and it proves that tom is the best actor EVER!!!!!!
      i love you tom!

    • he can act…he doesnt need an award to prove it…if he couldnt act he woudnt have a job. anyways the ones who win the globe never really get the oscar. e.g. tom hanks(cast away) won the golden globe and russell crowe won the oscar for gladiator…same thing happened the following year with denzel losing the globe to crowe and earning the oscar.

Lets hope he doesnt win…and gets a nom in the oscar and win that…if not there is always collateral.

    • Good job, Tom. I had hoped for TLS to be nominated for best picture and for best best director but we can’t wish everything. I’m so glad that Tom has got his 4th nomination. HURRAY!!

    • I can’t wait to see if he gets the award. I hope he does. It wouldn’t be fair for the award to go to Russell again. He already has one. Let Tom win this time.:)) Go Tom!!!

    • this is tom’s 5th nomianation.please remember that he was up for Risky Business back in 83.then came born on the fourth of july, jerry maguire, magnolia and now thelast samuari.we are all proud of all the nods he’s been recieving for all these great films that he was in. tom keep up the good work!

    • Go Tom!!! you’re thr greatest

    • Tom Cruise is a GREAT ACTOR. He deserve to win. And I hope he’ll be nominated for Oscar because he’s humble and he did a great job on The Last Samurai.

    • Yes Tommy, You are a great WARRIOR who battles against the ODDS. Your great zeal of determination, courage and wisdom will CONQUER your obstacles and hopefully you will “CRUISE” to VICTORY. ( Is no coincidence that your name is Cruise)
      GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
