Cruise pairs with Diaz on Fox pic
Tom Cruise is zeroing in on the 20th Century Fox action comedy, formerly titled “Wichita,” as his next star vehicle.
He’ll pair with Cameron Diaz in the James Mangold-directed film. That ends a serious courtship that the star had since January with some of the highest-profile projects in Hollywood.According to sources, Cruise and Diaz have approved the script, and their deals are in advanced negotiations. While Fox has not officially dated the picture, sources said the studio is eyeing a summer 2010 release.
The script has been through many machinations, but the most recent drafts were done by Scott Frank, with Mangold currently fine-tuning the script with Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island”). Two-hander has several action scenes.
Cruise will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.
Todd Garner, Kathy Conrad, Steve Pink and Joe Roth are producing the pic.
Since the opening of “Valkyrie,” Cruise has been courted for and has shown serious interest in the Len Wiseman-directed DreamWorks thriller “Motorcade”; the Bharat Nalluri-directed Spyglass remake “The Tourist”; the David Cronenberg-directed MGM drama “The Matarese Circle”; the Universal/Working Title romantic comedy “Lost for Words”; and “The 28th Amendment,” the Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck-directed Warner Bros. thriller.

Note from Chantal: Thanks Michelle and Charley for your comments. You were right, the former post here didn’t get the facts right. I’ve deleted that post and replaced it with the Variety story, which should have been posted in the first place.
Apologies for that.

No this is not official ..just yet. The Variety report was saying that it’s almost a done deal because Tom and Cameron have approved the script and “their deals are in advanced negotiations “. This means they are close to reaching deals with Tom and Cameron but they haven’t signed the deal yet and until they do it’s not official.

You ought to try to actually read the Variety story instead of just posting something from some crap paper in Kansas. It says Cruise is in negotiations – not that he committed. This is the most piss poor Tom site on the net. Don’t know why you bother keeping it open. Nothing you post is ever right.

Your welcome Chantal . Thank you for posting the original Variety artical and for being so nice and polite even when others arn’t to you. The previous artical wasn’t the only one that got the Variety report wrong and reported it as official , so it was an easy mistake to make .
Note from Chantal: Thanks for your kind words Michelle, I really appreciate it!

Michelle,
This is a Tom Cruise fansite. The assumption is that people running it would be smart enough to verify their information. Its an insult to Tom when his fansite can’t even get their information right. Whoever is running this site obviously does not care about him or the site.

Sounds like it could be a good movie! I hope Tom goes for it. After seeing how well he did in “Valkyrie”, I’m excited for his next projects!

I’m very sorry, if this could hurt someone, but this webpage is not the same as it used to be a few months ago. I don’t know the reason but it seems something wrong has happened. <>
Note from Chantal: Hi Francesc, I know how you feel. It frustrates me too to see that we can’t keep up lately. Personally, I used to be able to spend a lot of time and energy in the site. But things have changed. I have lots of responsibilities, two of them are my son and my daughter, you can imagine they are my priority. I’d like to see this site revived, so if you (or anyone else) have any suggestions to make it work here at TomCruiseFan.com, please feel free to let us know. Kind regards, Chantal

Abrams has been successful rebooting “Star Trek,” so I expect he’ll bring back “Mission: Impossible” from its low numbers on the third movie.
