Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes premiered his WWII thriller ‘Valkyrie’ in the homeland where it was filmed and its historic storyline took place — and ET was there! Tom was so busy signing autographs, posing for pictures and talking to the press; was he able to catch any of the inaugural excitement, including Barack Obama’s speech, in Washington D.C.?
“I’ve got it all on tape, so I’m going to be seeing the whole thing,” he assured us. “I’ve heard pieces of it also.”
In ‘Valkyrie,’ Tom plays real-life German hero Col. Claus Graf von Stauffenberg, who risked his life in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler at the height of World War II. The film is directed by Bryan Singer (‘The Usual Suspects,’ ‘X-Men,’ ‘Superman Returns’).
“This is a very exciting evening; we’ve been looking forward to this for two years since we first met on the film,” Tom tells ET. “It’s very special. I’m looking forward to experiencing it with this audience.”

ET’s Thea Andrews catches up with Tom Cruise in Berlin, Germany, where his movie ‘Valkyrie’ is set to premiere this week.
Tom says he is very excited to be debuting his film in Germany, where the star said there had been some initial trepidation because of the subject manner.
In ‘Valkyrie,’ Tom plays Col. Claus Graf von Stauffenberg, who helped hatch a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler at the height of World War II in order seize power and put an end to the bloodshed.
Tom describes the film as an “important story” he couldn’t wait for audiences to see and says the movie still keeps him on edge every time he watches it.
He also reveals to Thea that his most crucial item while on the road is his BlackBerry, which allows him to get constant messages and photos from his wife Katie and daughter Suri back home.
